Guess Ive finnished Myst now. Its a bit hard to know if its over tho..
Click here to view/hide a spoiler.
Is it over when Ive come to the place with all the snow and ice, and I have viewed the lightnings in the sky and the nessage cathrine left with a picture of riven? Or can I do anything else? If so, just say "There is more to do before you have finnished the game".
If not.. Well then it was the easiest mystgame Ive played this far anyway smile.gif Think It took about 16 hours to complete and the only nudges I got was in this thread smile.gif

It's a shame you seem to have thought of it as a time trial - Myst, Riven, Exile and the others are beautiful games with fabulous art that should be appreciated. Most of us can play through the actual game very quickly, but take our time to savour and enjoy the scenery, exploring the rich worlds that Cyan has created for us.

Well I was just surpriced.. Myst wasnt that big (as riven, URU for example), so when you got to a place it didnt take long before everything there was explored already. I took alot more time to complete Riven and URU, and part of that was that it was mor to explore. I was realy surpriced that the game was so easy that it was, since I thought it would be more like riven. I dont play the Mystgames to break a speedrecord, and to play trough a Myst game this fast was a new thing for me. It was realy fun in one way, the story came so close together, so it was like a drawn out movie or when reading a book in some ways. But since the mystgames realy just can be played once with all the fun left.. The next times you play it will only be to view the areas, check for easteregs and repeat the story. So it was kind of disapointing that it went that fast trough. =/
Even tho I would like the game to last longer then it did, I cant change my gameplay. I cant just not complete a puzzle that I know the sullution to, just cause I want it to last longer. It has to be more dificult and also the areas should be bigger. Thats what I liked about riven.
So dont get me wrong. I wasnt trying to break a speed record, but the fact that I did complete the game that fast was kind of disapointing and I realy thought it would be a harder/bigger game then it realy was.

Keep in mind that Myst is the original game in the series...not the latest. It came at a time when it was literally groundbreaking for it's contemporaries... It essentially created its own genre.... Yes, they went back and did RealMYST as a 3D version with one more small age added, but by and large nothing really changed significantly for gameplay between Myst and RealMYST as far as puzzles, etc. go. It was a good way for them to test the engine they were planning to use for Uru...

If you have already played Riven, Exile, etc. I can see how you might would think that Myst is "easy", but had you played it first you might have felt differently... unsure.gif

Thanks smile.gif
Ive been playing MMOs for a while now, so I havnt realy had the time to try myst IV and V yet. Im still at the 3rd age in exile. But now ive stopped my MMO playing for a while and that gives time for the Myst series again.
Since I hadnt played the regular Myst game I decided to start with that and now when Im done with it and got the bacground stoy of his sons, father and son on I can continue with the last part of exile and go on from there to the last two games.
So i guess I will be around for a while completing those games, since you guys seem quite nice biggrin.gif

Yes, welcome to these forum, Cyoor.

If you are looking for the background story of Myst, don't forget to read this wonderful book, Myst Reader, a trilogy of the books published earlier.

I'm still stuck on that......Music puzzle. It just will not work no matter what I do to it. So I may have an all time record for taking the longest time playing Myst.

As does one like it in another MYST game. whistling.gif
