QUOTE (Dr. Watson)
It has come to our attention that some explorers have created some very convincing Bahro costumes. Speaking as someone who has spent considerable time among the Bahro, I would advise against wearing those costumes in the Cavern. The real Bahro are unlikely to take it as a compliment and may not react well to it.

BTW - since I've been asked... No, the Bahro that I've spent time with are not at all offended by the term "Bahro". You're free to call them something else if you wish (though I'd do it with respect), but don't do it on the basis of trying to not offend them.

Very good costumes???
I don't think they would have ones that people would think they were Bahro,
Bahro have wings,
Bahro have blue crystal eyes,
Bahro have black skin with patterns,
Bahro gallop, (they don't walk)

These must be great costumes, I would like to see them for myself!

I think the "costumes" referred to are the hack-jobs hacking the game and going in as Bahro. I thought Cyan fixed that issue a while back.

I thought that the big security update that jumped the version number from 1.887 to 1.893 (lots of problems with getting the update to work I guess) was supposed to protect the vault from people enabling the Bahro skin (or any DRC avatar skins).

I may be wrong but I do not recall seeing an "official" Bahro having a name or even showing up in my KI. These avatars did both. If it shows in the KI, it is probably a hack job.

I believe Dr.Watson's post about "costumes" was just an IC explanation of the unauthorized Bahro avatars someone created. The fact that a post was made at all shows it was not a trivial incident.

I was thinking maybe cyan wanted a little humor for story wise. Maybe Cyan gave some bahro customs to certain people for the fun of it. Maybe they wanted added a little fun story since there no new contents.

Then why the big security update with the associated outage to fix the wide-open access to the vault?

Interesting, is that what that code thing is when you make a new avatar it has insert code here.
What's that for can you get codes to be a Bahro???

It could be us?

If I remember correctly, the Code box is a holdover from the GameTap days. It doesn't currently have a function.

Actually, I *think* the original intent of the "enter code" box (It's been there much longer than GameTap era wink3.gif ) was to allow a game subscriber (paying player) to generate an invite code in-game that would allow the invitee (a guest gaming/subscription target) to directly join the same Bevin membership as the inviter...so they wouldn't have to know how to add a buddy once they get their KI in order to be able to communicate with the friend/family member who had invited them...

That was true during the Gametap era. You had to use the /sendinvite command which generated an email with a code that assigned the visitor to the same neighborhood and the person sending the invitation. I vaguely recall that the first use of the Nrighborhood book would send the visitor to the GoG Bevin on first use but thereafter, they would go to their assigned hood. This command was disabled with MOULa as there are no visitor accounts. The command is still accepted by the KI but no email is ever sent.
