Guild of Greeters _ Forum/Website Help & Support _ Forum Is Back Up But Is Still "flashing"

Posted by: dadguy May 8 2014, 09:21 PM

The site has been unavailable for the past couple weeks. Now, it seems to be back up.

However, when I login with mu username, the page flashes constantly and I can't scroll down. Something is wrong.

I am using Internet Explorer 11. This behavior only occurs on the root Forum page. I am able to post here by logging out of the forum (and then I can browse the forum without the flashing), then I click to post in a sub forum and am prompted for my login. Since it logs me in at the sub forum level, the flashing doesn't occur and I can post.

There is some similar discussion in another forum topic here.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Cheers,

Dadguy :-)

I'm glad the forum is back! But I haven't experienced the problems you mention, though.

The same with me. No problems.

Still flashing for me. I can still see the odd links to "questionable" sites around the logo strip (around line 2149 in the view source). Whether or not this is causing the flash problem is beyond my skill set to determine. Something odd is there.

EDIT: still flashing for IE 11.0.9600.17105
no longer flashing in Firefox 29
does not flash in Chrome 34.0.1847.131 m

I had the flashing on the forum page before the downtime. It is working fine yesterday and today. I am using
firefox and everything works better.

Firefox functioning fine. smile.gif

Since I'm not interested in buying antibiotics at home, I probably won't be frequenting this forum much in the future. angry.gif

Popups? Ads? I've got my browser locked down pretty well, so I'm not seeing any of this.

No problems with Chrome or IE 11. No popups either J'iim.

Very odd. The flashing seems to have stopped (again). The suspicious links still appear in the page source of the index page though. The following code has been in the page for a long time...

CODE
<div style="position:absolute;left:-10000px;"><a href="http://antibioticshome.com/">buy antibiotics without prescription</a></div>

<div class='ipb-top-right-link' style="position:absolute;left:-10000px;"><a href="http://birthcontroltablets.com/en/order-generic-plan-b-online-pills.cfm">plan b birth control</a></div>

Maybe the problem is with Java...Oracle is always messing with it and I really have gotten a distrust of Oracle over the yeats.

Mine is STILL flashing when I go to the root forum page after logging in (IE 11).

That is, when I go here --> http://forums.guildofgreeters.com/

It doesn't flash but when I view the source, I do see the entry. Tech?

When I entered the forum with IE, I still had the flashing. Today with Firefox, no flashing.

Still flashing for me in IE, but I can usually stop it from reloading by hitting the "X" in the URL bar.

This weekend it's the MOULa and other Cyan websites that are down, so I suspect the web-server is down for the holiday weekend until someone can come in and reset or repair it. unsure.gif

At least URU is up and running on the game servers. smile.gif

(Yep. Back up on Monday. smile.gif )

Yay! After being down again for the last 10 days or so, it is nice to see the GOG sites back up.

It is STILL flashing for me after I log in on the forum root, but I am still appreciative of all of the site's gifts.

Cheers,

Dadguy

Yay! The website doesn't "flash" anymore for me. It is working normally. Thanks to whomever intervened. :-)

PS: I am using IE11.
