Ok, I thought long and hard about this before posting.

I was taking the time to look around the area where we are supposed to be dropping pellets to improve the health of the algae in the lake around Ae'gura. I was curious to see if I could map the location of the Silo on the map I have of Ae'gura when, to my surprise, I found that the KI had coordinates of 1913/1562/-164. This puts it about 1.5 times as far from the GZ as the location of Bevin at the cavern wall and about 70 spantee (almost 300 meters) below the level of the lake (-94). I fail to see how this activity at this spot could have any effect on the lake algae. Just what is going on here? Is this just another mindless activity to keep the explorers out of the DRC's hair?

Enquiring explorer's would really like to know!

As far as I know lurking through forums, the KI coordinates for ErcanaCitySilo are not working properly...

The Silo in the Ashem'em District which is the center of D'ni industry is also known for a long time to be located far away from the City to protect the people from industrial accidents.

That's like saying that your GPS in your car doesn't work right in New Jersey but does in Manhattan. One GZ, one KI, works here but not there? Hmmmmm...

The coordinates Jiim has are the same as I got in the standalone game. Range and bearing I can believe, but 90 spans below lake level? Especially when the top of the test site is open. I couldn't figure it out then and I can't figure it out now. Of course, I can't even get there because I can't stay in the game longer than 15 minutes or so...

It certainly is open on top:

The pictures are not very good outside. This industrial area is basically in a very small round cavern. It reminds me mostly of a giant cesspool. What you see in the 2nd picture is basically what you see no matter what direction you look... buildings (probably factories) lining all the cavern walls.

The elevation of the lake in Ae'gura is -94. The elevation for this district is -164. 70 spantee at just over 4 meters per span come out to something over 280 meters. Do you know if algae can swim upstream?

Maybe the algae transmit nutrients to each other. laugh.gif

Maybe there is a dam somewhere near the Silo. If not, then maybe the KI has a significant offset.

Gee, Rex. I thought a little IC outrage at being asked to do a mind-numbing, repetitive task that makes no sense based on where we are doing it was playing the game. confused1.gif The enjoyment comes from watching to see if the IC fanatics pick up on it and create big stink about it in game. I'm afraid I'm not above throwing a bone to the pack and watching them fight over it (no animals were harmed in the use of this metaphor smile.gif)
