Hey misty, we're glad to have you here clapping.gif and we don't bite. Feel free to jump in when you see an interesting conversation taking place. Oh, and just find a way to work food into the conversation and you'll become an instant family member.

I'll take a Chimay Grande Reserve, myself, please. And chocolate chip cookies. Peach cobbler... and we all like pizza.

And whaddya mean, "real forums?" Ain't this a real forum? Have the Moderators been holding out on us all this time, making us think this is a real forum when it's just a phony? I wanna know!

/me trembles as reality shakes around him

No, but it sure tastes better than eating shoes!!! wink3.gif It's a "staple" dessert in the U.S. deep south! (especially with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream or sweetened vanilla real whipped cream!)

shock.gif OMG I hope not!!! I think that has different implications where I come from......

Looks like Peach Crumble to me, L'lee - could it be the same thing? I make Peach and Apple Crumble (topping made with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour and melted butter to just lightly bind it all together to the consistency of breadcrumbs).

/me has visions of a heaping, steaming, fresh "dogpile" on race's food cart... lmao.gif wink3.gif And now the rest of the US knows where they got the name... dogpile of people "looks like" a big heap of dogpile...

Yes, some recipes are made much the same way as your "crumble," but there are also differing topping recipes that abound for cobbler... Many people use a piecrust recipe and make it so that it ends up being more like a peach pie in a deep baking dish (usually a cake pan, sometimes with and sometimes without a bottom crust), and my mom's recipe that makes more of a "cake batter" consistency for the topping.

Here in the US, I think "crumble" is usually made using oats mixed with the brown sugar, butter, flour and seasonings....

You can put coconut in it as well for a tropical flavour.

We also have recipes here for fruit sponges, which is a sponge cake baked on top of stewed or hot fruit - again, I usually make a peach and apple one, served with vanilla ice cream and cream... Glick.gif
