QUOTE Friday 07.16.04 - Community News Myst Fans Help Solve Bump in the Path Myst Fans were thrilled to get their hands on The Path of the Shell last week, and while most had no problems installing and playing the Uru expansion, there were a few members of the community who encountered some difficulty. Now, with their help, we've managed to figure out what is causing the problems and can recommend a few simple things to alleviate them. There are a couple of things that Ubisoft Customer Service has been informed about regarding player corruption, and we would like to ensure this information is now passed on to those who need it. If you know someone who is having difficulty please give them the following pointers: - If people were using directories that had an Uru Live update when they made their player to begin with, and then try to use the same player to run To D'ni or TPoTS, the player will most likely become corrupted and as Uru Live was discontinued and is no longer supported, you will not be able to get assistance through Ubisoft. Please get rid of your Live directory, do a clean install of Uru, then install To D'ni and TPotS. - If people install TPoTS, then uninstall, then install Prime, and run the game, they'll corrupt their players because that's an unsupported install method, i.e., players can go to newer products, but not to older ones. Never hurts to backup players prior to uninstalling/reinstalling. Hopefully with this new information we can alleviate the difficulties some players are having! Thanks to ALL the fans who wrote to me and to the Dev Teams about their Path issues, which gave us a chance to know and understand just what was occurring, and then give you these recommendations. Ways to Avoid any Bumps: Start clean with Uru: Ages Beyond Myst without Live update, and install from there (or clean ABM --> To D'ni --> TPotS). Do not reinstall anything without backing up your player first. An avatar that has been used in To D'ni can never be used in Ages Beyond Myst, and an avatar that has been used in TPoTS can never be used in Ages Beyond Myst or Ages Beyond Myst + To'Dni. If you have any further questions, please ask for assistance in the Technical Forums, here. Happy Exploring! Source:-Myst Worlds |
